Aqualyx is an injectable, non-surgical alternative to traditional liposuction. It is designed to target stubborn, localised fat pockets that do not respond to diet or exercise, such as the chin, abdomen, flanks, thighs and upper arms. The treatment works through a deoxycholate-based solution, a substance the body produces naturally to help digest fat. When injected directly into the targeted area, it breaks down the membranes of fat cells, permanently liquefying them. Over the following weeks the body clears this liquefied fat through the lymphatic system, the same pathway used to remove other cellular waste, gradually reducing the volume of fat in the treated area. Most clients need a course of two to four sessions, spaced around four weeks apart, depending on the size and stubbornness of the area being treated. Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising at the injection site is common for a few days afterwards, and visible results typically build gradually over four to six weeks per session as the body clears the dissolved fat. Because the fat cells are destroyed rather than simply shrunk, results are considered permanent in the treated area, provided body weight remains stable.
